I now have my smirf at 38400 and can use the above diagram that shows how to use a DPDT switch to access the ssc and botboard without having to change the jumpers for the baud rate…works great…now I can put the boards together as per the instructions…just switch between program mode and run mode…like the arm setup…
wish I could hook up the smirf to the botboard so I could program without the cable too…
AS for the laptop I dont see why not…I’m using a cheap I/O Gear bluetooth dongle I got from Wal-Mart…just a little different instructions but it works the same way…no problem…
more pics of my Scout soon…!!
Will be ordering the SEQ software and more stuff for My Quarter Scale Quad…too !
Curious, what kind of servos are you using in your scout Sheldon? The 5645?
Can you post some pictures of your switch mod? I’m curious to see where on the scout chassis you mounted the switch…
I’m using the plain 645’s…
They could use more torque.but work fine for now…money restraint.
there is a hole on the top of the scout for a switch …I put the power switch in there, so I can switch from prog.mode to botboard mode…
I havent installed the othe switch in yet was looking for a good spot…maybe next to the hole thats there or a small bracket…then I can add the female power connector from the adapter so I dont run the battery down…like on the base of the arm assy.
I have the female power connector doublefaced taped to the front side of the bracket that holds the ssc…here is the link to my pics…

I love this idea! - I am going to take it one step further, and use a 4PDT switch.
I’m building the CH3-R Hexapod, and I’m going to have it switch between the PS2 controller at 38.4 and a BlueSmirf at 115.2.
I’ll use the first two poles to basicly do what is described in this thread - (Switching the data lines, but between PS2 and BlueSmirf).
I’ll use the second two poles to:
Switch power between the PS2 and BlueSmirf
Set the baud rate to 115.2 for the BlueSmirf
(It’s 1,0 for 38.4 and 1,1 for 115.2 - Since they both have the first jumper always shorted, I’m simply going to use the 4th pole to short the second jumper when the BlueSmirf is selected)
Now the hard part
I have ONE 4PDT switch that will fit - and it’s in my garage SOMEWHERE
Wish me luck!!!
Also - where are the base image files of the SSR and Bot Board (Like the ones used 2 posts up) located?
I’d like to use them in my docs, but want the base images with no wires / jumpers so I can draw in my own…
I don’t have any blank images for these posted. They are all set up to illustrate a specific purpose. I would have to post the on the website and give you a link. It’s Monday…
Can I get them on a Tuesday???
Please???
Please, remind me tomorrow and I will do my best.
