It sounds like an issue with the adapter. The cable we sell has been very reliable.

thanks for fast respons

can I connect my bbII atom pro use this?
aten.com/products/productIte … 2316346005
or this
bafo.com/products_bf-810_S.asp

oh yeah,
I only add 9v to VL port

thanks

Perhaps. Those are not products we offer so we cannot confirm they will work.

As for the Bafo, I think this may be the one I have used for a long time and worked great. Again if it is the same one, it has a prolific USB chipset in it, which I don’t remember if I had to go up to the Prolific website to get a valid driver or not. Also I found that it did not always work on all USB ports of different computers, even though the device manager stated that the USB ports were powered. On some computers I had to use it through a powered USB hub. But once it worked, it downloaded to my BAP28’s maybe 1.5 times faster than the FTDI based adapters.

So gain if you wish to get one, that just works grab one they sell.

Kurt

hmm
ok I will try used bafo product,
yesterday I try to used another cable usb adapter, it has a prolific USB chipset in it,
i’m install driver and success, then on my device manager no yellow symbol warning again,
but when I’m try to connect basic micro software to my bap28 isnt connected, and on my bap28 out sound beep 1-2x times.

thanks kurt and benson

bro, any special setting for port usb converter serial? or someting configuration?
now I used FT232 chip, but when try to connect or try to find my prosesor still not found :frowning:

I’m having the same problem. I am also using the USB-> serial cable (FTDI USB-to-serial adapter cable FT232R chip) that is sold with the robot on the Lynxmotion web site. But just can’t connect to the BAP 28

When I choose Tools-Preferences- Find Processor it always says “Could not find processor”

I have a question as well. When I connect the 9v battery the 3 LEDs ABC cycle in a pulse and the speaker gives a chirp. As far as I know this is a default program on the BAP 28. Do I need the 9v battery connected while I try to connect to PC??? I have tried both ways and does not seem to make a difference.

Also I have tried this on my Windows 7, 64 bit desktop PC and repeated the whole process on my Windows 7, 32 bit laptop (Using the 32 bit drivers) The same problem with both.

I just can’t get Basic Micro Studio to find the BAP 28.

Any ideas??? I am so stuck and just can’t think of anything?

Hi,

Yes you need to power the VL input to the Bot board.

Which version of studio are you running?

I normally don’t use the find processor command. What I do is have the USB plugged in. start up studio. At the top of the screen, you will see a couple of Drop down lists.
On the first one (Right to Left), choose: BasicATOMPro
On the 2nd one choose: BAP 28
On the 3rd one Select the Com port that your USB to serial is connected to.

Then try to Program the chip with some program

Good Luck
Kurt

I just did a loop test with my Serial-USB converter and found it worked just fine. Then did a loop test with the serial cable and it failed, so it looks like the serial cable I found in the storage basement was just plain broken. I’m gonna hunt for a new cable. I think that was my problem.

Hi, im new to all this stuff and am having trouble just connecting to my board.
ive read as much troubleshooting info on this website as i can, but am still stuck.

I have a usb to serial adapter - digitech - the driver says its prolific (what ever that means…)
I have installed the most up to date adapter software and it is showing up in device manager as a port which is working properly on com4
I am using bot board 2 with a basic atom pro 28 processor
i have external power going to the board with a solid green light
i am using a powered usb hub
i am trying to connect it to lynx motion visual sequencer v1.16
i have selected the correct com port on the program and clicked connect but a dialogue box pops up and says:
“cant find the ssc-32 card, wait for robot?”
any help would be appreciated, cheers

because you are trying to connect a “BotBoard with Atom microcontroller” to a program designed for the ssc-32 (Servo controller)
lynxmotion.com/p-395-ssc-32- … oller.aspx

The Botboard is not a servo controller by definition but you can connect servos to it and control them using code uploaded to the Atom Chip, just not with the lynx motion visual sequencer.
