Today comes the announcement Broadcomm are releasing the details on their video core iv gpu which is similar to the harware used in the raspi.
Eben Upton has announced $10,000 bounty for the first to come up with a new open source driver that takes advantage of this release.
Happy Birthday Raspi!
Halelujah! LOL
Not that my headless Pi cares about 3D drivers, but this is definitely a huge step in the right direction.
Maybe with enough poking around, someone in our community can figure out how to offload processing from the CPU, and use the power of the GPU to solve “real-world” mapping problems. I mean if they can use it for terrain mapping and multi-dimensional problem solving in the gaming world, how different is it to provide that back to resolve similar “real-world” mapping and path planning?
Thanks for reporting this!
