Just a reminder to everyone, the 2011 Central Illinois Bot Brawl is now only 2 months away! Don’t miss your chance to win some awesome prizes! Here’s a list of the available prizes we’ve collected so far thanks to the generous support of our sponsors:
This year’s event will include 8 different robot competitions including 1lb and 3lb combat robots which will battle in our recently upgraded 8’ X 8’ combat arena. We’re also planning to once again include Mech Warfare demos so be sure to bring your Mech if you want to get in on the action!
Make sure to register your robots as soon as possible on the Builders Database (buildersdb.com/eventdetail.asp?eventid=327) to help us plan for the number of competitors. Unfortunately we’ll have to cancel a robot class if enough competitors are not registered so please register your robot right away!
Also, if you’re planning to compete in the Best In Show (circ.mtco.com/competitions/2011/rules/best_in_show) competition which does not require advanced registration, we’d still appreciate if you could let us know ahead of time what you’ll be bringing so we can be sure to provide space for your display.

After receiving an especially large donation from the publishers of MAKE Magazine, our prize collection has now surpassed a total value of more than $9,500 and we’re still expecting more! A huge thanks once again to all our sponsors! circ.mtco.com/competitions/2011/sponsors
Thanks to our competitors, volunteers, and sponsors for helping us make this year’s competition was one of our biggest yet with a terrific turnout of robots and large crowds of spectators. The main goal of the Bot Brawl is to expose as many people as possible to the exciting world of robotics while providing an exciting venue for current hobbyists to put their skills to the test. Judging by the crowd’s excitement and local interest I think we were very successful!
Competition results, pictures, and some of the highlight videos are now available on our 2011 competition page. More videos can be found on our Youtube Channel. We’re still working on getting the sumo match videos edited and uploaded but the rest of the robot event videos are now online.
Thanks again to all who participated and we look forward to seeing everyone again next year!
