Another Humanoid Brand

I dont know if anybody has seen these but its a new humanoid lineup called MechRC, not sure what to think of it. mechrc.com/ They seem to have decent servo’s though.

Comments are welcome

I continue to be amazed by the number of new humanoid robots coming out. This one looks pretty cool for what it is. The upgrade kits are especially nice. I wonder how good that 3D software is.

My concerns would be the strength of the servos and the limited DOF. It would probably be fun until it broke and you couldn’t find replacement parts. :stuck_out_tongue:

Yeah it is pretty cool and from what i heard its supposedly going to be marketed for 500 US, i think the Mech Rc EOU looks like a pretty good addition. Im not sure if its software like robonova or bioloid where you can program it, and also it gives me the impression like they want to sell an action figure instead of a robot kit. But thats just my opinion.

EDIT: also from what i can see it looks like there trying to introduce a new type of hobby bot combat with the infared guns.

Yes, I am completely amazed by all the choices of the humanoid biped segment. There seems to be an explosion of new humanoids coming out from last year to present.

All the distributors of humanoids seems to have the common crop of humanoids, but each one has one or two humanoids that the others do not carry.

Check out this site:

roboporium.com/

It is a subsidiary of Kumotek, which is another fine manufacturer of humanoids.

Edit:

This MechRC reminds me of Robophilos but with a much more sleeker look!

If I had all the money in the world, I’d buy them all and make custom ones and have a dozen or so of these robot children walking around all over my house!

I’d get the Bioloid if I wanted something like this.

I love the ground pounder skin! very cool! This is one of the nicer looking humanoid bots I have seen yet. I just looked at their video and it seems a bit wobbly and slow. Robonova seems to perform better.

Yeah i noticed that, i dont think there high on the torque end, only the speed is decent. I think there EOU model is probably their main competator towards the bots like khr’s, manoi, etc. Though thats just an assumption… im going to check up on these alot to see progress.

Yeah, the video showed them a bit wobbly, reminds me of the servos they packed into Robophilos (which is pretty much in that same price range).

The aesthetic of that bot is beautiful but I wonder if their servos are up to par. The strongest servo I saw in the brochure was a 13kg-cm servos, which equates to roughly 180 oz-in. I think Biped humanoids need minimum of 200+ oz-in of torque for a good operation.

I’d be cautious with “cheap” and “low cost” biped humanoids. There’s a reason why Robonovas, Kondos, Bioloids, and etc cost the amount they do. Majority of the cost is in servos and the quality of the material they use.

But I might be too quick to judge things. The i-sobot has surprised me with its price. I still think the Bioloid is probably far superior in performance then the MechRC’s bot. You can always dress up your bot after you get your performance and functionality down IMO

The servos look like standard sized servos so I thnking you might be able to chunk in 5995s in it.

You probably mean the 5990TGs right? The 5995s have some FET blowout issues…

You think those plastic brackets could handle the torque?

Ope! my bad…

It depends if the plastic is soft n flexible or hard n brittle I guess.

Funny… Neither of the two options make for good bot brackets! lol

I agree. I don’t think it’s a coincidence that many of the top contenders at Robo One and Robo games uses aluminum-based material for their servo brackets.

Nothing against MechRC, I wish them luck and prosper in this market, but I don’t think they are competing in the high-end market right now, but who knows in a few years?
