Thanks guys, I appreciate the kind words. I thought that I was never going to be able to get this thing made but it’s finally a reality!
I did a search on the internet with both Yahoo and Google to see if anyone has come close to doing what I am trying to do. Looks like I’m one of the only guys in the world that is doing this!
Here is another picture of the finished head - Side view:
Thanks to Jim Miester for giving me the dimensions, I was able to plug in the Hi-Tec Aluminum servo horn bolt pattern to a custom bracket to be made. This bracket will mount the bot head directly to the aluminum servo horn or any of the SES servo brackets obviously.
Hey Mike! I would be willing to laser cut one of those from Lexan for you for free. If you want to keep it all aluminum I understand, but I just wanted to pitch in. I can make it in clear, tinted, or black. Just let me know. Thanks!
Nick is right, it is going to be a head for a bot like Nick’s biped with waist rotate. The bot head should get to my house via FedEx some time this week, and I will take some pictures of it with some common objects such as a pencil, quarter, ruler, etc. for scale.
My machined bot head arrived via FedEx today. Here are more pictures of it with some scale reference. I had to use my whimpy 1.3 mega pixel camera so it just would not do it any justice, oh well… This thing looks so cool in real life.
I got some time to finally epoxy in the mic elements. I used the epoxy we use at my work. I have no idea what it is but I just liked the nice black color of it. It’s industrial grade, I know that much.
I have provided two pictures of the “ears” installed:
