Aluminum Skull Chassis - A New Beginning

Thanks guys, I appreciate the kind words. I thought that I was never going to be able to get this thing made but it’s finally a reality!

I did a search on the internet with both Yahoo and Google to see if anyone has come close to doing what I am trying to do. Looks like I’m one of the only guys in the world that is doing this!

Here is another picture of the finished head - Side view:

I resized the image to better fit this forum.

Thanks to Jim Miester for giving me the dimensions, I was able to plug in the Hi-Tec Aluminum servo horn bolt pattern to a custom bracket to be made. This bracket will mount the bot head directly to the aluminum servo horn or any of the SES servo brackets obviously.

Here’s the concept rendering!

oooooooooooooo, ahhhhhhhhhhhhh

very fancy  , its so COOL :smiling_imp:

Hey Mike! I would be willing to laser cut one of those from Lexan for you for free. If you want to keep it all aluminum I understand, but I just wanted to pitch in. I can make it in clear, tinted, or black. Just let me know. Thanks!

Black would be fantastic, only problem is I can only export a DFX file. Can you use this format?

Importing DXF is much less painfull than exporting it. Yeah I think it’s no problem. Oh, just the 2D version though…

Mike…
SLOW DOWN!!!

Your making the rest of us feel inadequate.

Very smooth head…
Reminds me of my old X-C coach.

Slow down! ? That’s easy for you to say… You have a bot!

:stuck_out_tongue:

I may have missed but…
first things first. THAT IS AMAZING!!!
Is it gonna be a head for the robo-one? how big is it?
agian I say
THAT THING IS AMAZING

Yes, it is indeed a Robo-1 head, for Mike’s upcoming biped.
If you look above, he mentions that it’s about the size of one and a half golf balls.

THAT IS AMAZING! he needs a black lexan scythe…
MWAHAHAHAHAHA

Nick is right, it is going to be a head for a bot like Nick’s biped with waist rotate. The bot head should get to my house via FedEx some time this week, and I will take some pictures of it with some common objects such as a pencil, quarter, ruler, etc. for scale.

My machined bot head arrived via FedEx today. Here are more pictures of it with some scale reference. I had to use my whimpy 1.3 mega pixel camera so it just would not do it any justice, oh well… This thing looks so cool in real life.

Hi Mike!
here is an image of the mounting brackety thing. It’s on the way…

Fannnntastic!

I’m about ready to order the PING sensor for my bot head!

Thanks Billions!

when you get done in a few weeks (preferabbly shorter) WE NEED VIDEO! and pics.

agreeded

Video and pics?..

      You got it!

I got some time to finally epoxy in the mic elements. I used the epoxy we use at my work. I have no idea what it is but I just liked the nice black color of it. It’s industrial grade, I know that much.

I have provided two pictures of the “ears” installed:

The Bracket

I still need the PING sensors and the 36mm speaker installed before the head is 100% complete.
