Alternative to HS-805BB servo for AL5D arm?

Hello,

I noted that the AL5D arm kits that come with servos are currently out of stock. Specifically, the HS-805BB and HS-422 servos appear to be out of stock. I have access to an HS-422, but still need the HS-805BB.

I see the HS-805MG is identical in dimensions and specs, but has metal gears. Unfortunately, it is also out of stock.

Is there an alternative to the HS-805BB that will fit the AL5D brackets, and meets or exceeds the specs?

If not, any idea when more HS-805BB servos will be in stock (I’ve seen other sites saying new stock is expected in early January).

Thanks
Eric

Hi Eric,

Hitec is actually out of stock at the moment that’s why.
There is not direct replacement we know of at the moment which would be a direct fit.

Hi @dialfonzo ,

I know this is a VERY old thread, but since it’s the same subject I thought of writing here.

Is there any other option to make something fit in place of the HS-805BB? I still have mine working, but I’m interested to have a High Torque replacement. When the arm is working at full extension my HS-805BB is bouncing a bit and I would like to have something more stable.

Else is there a way to adapt the bottom half of the arm with another part (wider, or not) with a higher torque motor?

Thanks.

Do you have the back spring installed ?

RC servos will hunt at like that, it’s quite inevitable and the HS-805BB is a quite big servo.
You could shorten the arm length as well.

Ha, good point! I had it removed some time ago I was working very close to the base and it was creating to much traction. Let me put it back and see how it does. Good catch! Thanks!

It’s not magic, but might help.
