9" SKILL SAW accident

Hi Jonny,

I hope the hand isn’t as painful as it looks. The stitches show that you hit a large area of your hand. Maybe you can leave the pins in so it can stop the SAW the next time. Just kidding, I hope you get well soon!

Xan

I don’t think your sick for showing the pics…

I think it would make a good tutorial on how not to use a skill saw!!!
But hey, all kidding aside I hope it turns out ok for you, the stitches are no big deal they come out quite easy, just a small twitch, they do look weird thou stuck into your skin.

From experience I must say that as soon it’s healed enough for movement therapy don’t hold back and get it as limber as possible as soon as you can so that you can get back to building robots.

thanks for your support. the stiches are dissolvable and are already starting to do this. the scaring looks really neat, they did a good job.

i went in for occupational therapy to start moving my fingers so that the stiching and tendons dont stick. this really hurts but the pain is nothing compared to what it was, so its ok.

i can only move the tips of my fingers for now.

what was done: (left hand)

  1. Thumb, was not effected
  2. Index finger, broken bone and ripped though tendons
  3. Middle finger, broken bone and ripped though tendons
  4. Ring finger, ripped though tendons
  5. Little finger, was not effected

what was done: (right hand)

  1. Thumb, nail was ripped off

thanks again.

The scar has healed really nicely and the pins are comming out this comming tuesday 1st.
I have very little movement still and iv also been told that the healing scar and healing tendons are fusing together under my skin. Meaning that when i
try and move my fingers the skin on the back of my hand is also pulling (moving) with the tendons.
I may have to have secondry surgery to release them. meaning starting the therepy all over again.

yay pins out. only one hurt while pulling them out but the rest of them was fine.
she struggled abit pulling them out. just felt strange.

hopefully i wont need secondry surgery. fingers crossed, well almost. lol.

Glad to see your hand are getting better!

Let us know when your able to cross your fingers then

Happy to see you’re hand is getting better! Let’s hope you will be building robotics soon

And until that day, we will keep them crossed for you.

Xan

It still looks painful. Glad it healed up without any problems. Perhaps use a table saw, just make sure your fingers are clear.

im back at work now as from last monday. all is ok. i still get a few pains but nothing serious. i will be having that secondary surgery at the end of April to release that stuck knuckle.

thanks for your support.

Hi Jonny,

Happy to hear you’re back in business again. I hope the surgery will give you full movement of your hand again.

Xan

good to hear from you, been awhile. yeah today i had some cyclic sound frequencies fired though my hand (6.2kHz) to get the tissue on the back of my hand released from the tendons.

but apart from that being my weekly event, im just waiting till april. should be another 6weeks off work. plenty of time for robotics. 8)

all the best, keep safe fella.

well i received a phone call this morning about secondary surgery for my hand. i go in on the 21st may.
i believe they will be opening it back up to restructure the bone and stretch the tendon, that will then allow me to move it.

four weeks left of robotics, then im back to square one, for 6 weeks. :frowning:
although the time off will be good.

Good luck, Jonny!

Thanks for your support… Now is my time to return the favor.

Jonny,

Best wishes for a speedy recovery!

Alan KM6VV

thanks, yeah hopefully i will have plenty of morphine.

Hi Jonny,

Good luck with the surgery! I hope this fully recovers the movement of your hand!

All the best,

Xan

hi Xan,
yeah should be a quick recovery.
i hear you have been busy recently…how is the house?

hopefully you will be back to building robots soon.
good to hear from you again mate.

Be safe.

Hi Jonny,

Got our house as good as finished. I still need to hang some lamps and do some other minor stuff. We finally got our internet connection last friday! I’m planning to pick up some of my robots and pc this evening. ^^

Be back soon

Xan

Good Luck Jonny!

I will keep my fingers crossed!

Kurt

do i sense a joke?
i should have “SAW” that coming.
i think we need to “CUT” the jokes, as the jokes are having me in “STITCHES”!

wish i could cross mine. lol.
