That’s an out-dated programmer. The HPP-21Plus+ does much more.

I thought Jim said he was going to carry it.

I have the HS 5485HB servos and the HPP.

this programmer only programs from the pc to the servo :hmi programmer

hpp-21plus+ : goes from the box to the servo or the pc to the box to the servo

Yes, that’s correct!

The little hpp-21plus+ box works two ways. Very convenient. Good for “field” use, or off a PC. But I’m sure the hmi can also do the job (I don’t know about all servos).

Have you considered a “new products” email listing or some sort of batch mailing that would announce new products? I know some of your products you announce here on the forum. Maybe I just missed 'em.

I may have read it, and forgot it! I remember mentioning the HPP-21+ in the past.

It’s a nice piece of test gear. I was using it just yesterday to operate the new jaws (grippers) I’ve been working on.

thats the one i am talking about

that is version 1.0.2 so i called Hitec told them about the problems that i was having with the jitter to the 5990tg

So Hitec sent me a newer Version of the software ver# 1.0.4 and that took a lot of the jitter away

i used the hmi servo programmer on the 12 X 5990tg’s and changed all settings on it using the hmi programmer and still no go they set there and jitter all the time.

so i called hitec to see what they say about it. and they asked me a few question on what hardware i was using and the robot that i am using in it and the battery that i am using to power the servos with so i told them

told them this i am using the scout from lynxmotion
battery lipo 2s 5000 mh 25c and the ssc-32

and the verion of the software for the hmi programer i was using ver 1.0.2
hitec sent me a newer version of the software which is supposed to take away a lot of the noise away and the jitter out of the 5990tg
this ver is 1.0.4 and along with directions to upgade the software and the firmware on the 5990tg

and for the most part took a lot of the jitter out of the servos, but didnt take away the noise level of the servos so now i can at least continue to set up my scout, i have one side of the legs done and no jitter in them just the high pitch noise, witch is better than the jitter and the nosie at the same time 8)

I’ve just received the HMI servo programmer. I had to buy it from Sweden actually. The programmer Jim sent me didn’t support HMI (HPP-21). Anyway I got the HMI programmer with the 1.0.2 software like you. I’ve also mailed Hitec but no response, over a month ago. Is there any way I can get a copy of the 1.0.4 software you have?

I’m sending you a PM also. The jitter are about to end my MorpHex project and making me crazy.

Hay Zenta. I had the same issue with my a-pod clone. Hitec/HMI sent me a 10meg zip with software and a schematic for making your own serial plug modification in the zip. You can plug the servo right in to your pc. It did help take most of the jitter out. I tried to up load it to this thread but it just times out something is stopping me.

I don’t think so Alan. HPP-21 does not support HMI. As far as I know… The program you attached is the same I tried on my HPP-21.

Hi,

I’ve just got time for testing the 1.04 software. My findings are equal to what other experienced. The most important part for me was that the 1.04 removed or minimized the jitter (shaking) to a minimum! So this update really saved my MorpHex project!

At first I got a little confused. I followed the manual and did a servo reset but I didn’t notice any changes to the jitter issue. After a little while I realized that you had to cycle the power to the servo after resetting the servo. Another thing was that almost all the servos I have had a different servo centering and max/min position settings, so by resetting the servos all these values became default again. That was probably a good thing but my problem was that I had to re-calibrate MorpHex again… I also noticed that the resolution changed a little. After doing some testings on 6 servos I found an average pwm deg ratio to be cPwmDiv=1022 which give a cPFConst=620.
Example from servodriver section:

aswCoxaServo(LegIndex) = (-CoxaAngle1(LegIndex)-CoxaOffset1+900)*1000/cPwmDiv+cPFConst + cCoxaOffset(LegIndex);

Btw, the 5990TG Plus 1.04 software update was intentionally made for reducing the high pitch sound. That didn’t got affected though , they still make a lot of sound.
