Underwater robots help contain the leak of oil in the Gulf of Mexico

BP Oil spill image foxnews Some underwater robots have helped to lay the huge concrete and steel cover on the leak of oil in the Gulf of Mexico. The cover measures 12 meters in height and was placed 1500 meters deep, guided by robots. It's hoped that the oil spill, failing disappearing, will stop spreading. This is because, since the day of the accidence off the coast of Louisiana, 11 million liters of oil has poured into the sea. But, the laying of this first cover has not entirely worked due to the formation of ice crystals. A second smaller one should be put in place this week. At a discharge rate of 800 000 liters of oil per day, the American authorities and the BP oil company need to work fast. And the role of underwater robots in this type of last chance operation is crucial. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CH4I1a5vg3w
