The Mouth The Robotic mouth or how to imitate a human voice. This video is starting to tour the web, mainly due to the unusual appearance of the mouth and the very special sound it emits. But, don't be fooled by appearances, this is serious. It's a prototype for hearing-impaired people by the Japanese Kagawa University and which could help improve their articulation. The imitation of human vocal cords is made possible thanks to an air pump, artificial vocal cords, a resonance tube, nasal cavity and a microphone attached to a sound analyzer. The robot is also capable of analyzing a human voice and reproducing it by speaking and even by singing. So, despite the unappealing look of the prototype, its future applications are full of potential in the paramedical sector. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=57zsMfuTk1U via popsci Below is another music video but it's probably an edited version based on the first video above which is true. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=canHzCiWoKI
