Samarai by Lockheed Martin

The Lockheed Martin Samarai is an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV). The project had to be abandoned but a new video has just appeared on YouTube. The SAMARAI is a 30 cm single rotating wing which can fly vertically, land, take off again, and go in any direction. It's inspired by the maple seed, which flies and swirls as it falls. maple seed The concept is very special and we wouldn't like to find ourselves next to this wing to be subjected to the samurai effect! We don't yet know the real objective behind this project but considering how this aerial device is built, you can imagine the efficiency of a similar weapon as a type of machine gun. The Pentagon also asked Lockheed last year to think about such a prototype to be able to spy on enemies. However, it may be difficult to install a camera on the Samarai. Let's wait and watch out for developments in the next few months since the project clearly still seems relevant.
