Dear God, Katrina raped the gulf coast of the US. Consider a donation to the Red Cross or your favorite aid charity.

In related news, MSNBC published a report on robotics and hi-tech gear involved in the rescue process. Mentioned in the article is the University of South Florida's Institute for Safety Security Rescue Technology (or, Center for Robot Assisted Search and Rescue) headed by Dr. Robin Murphy. They are employing several systems including, "Pint-size robots that can move through crevices in a collapsed building to bring water, light and two-way communications to trapped survivors" and  RC planes and helicopters.

One of the helicopters used is the like90. Their website says, "As an affiliate of CRASAR, we were called to volunteer our VTOL UAVs in search and rescue assistance after Hurricane Katrina in the Gulf of Mexico."
