The
first National Robotics Week (
National Robotics Week) will take place from the
April 10 to the 18, 2010 in the
United States; this event is held annually.
Robotic technology, which is described as a
pillar of American innovation of 21st century will be honored.
This event is a joint effort by a large panel of companies, associations, universities and organizations and it is co-organized by one of the leading manufacturers of home and professional robots,
iRobot -
whose products are available at Robotshop.
The project began in 2009 and aims to provide a roadmap for robotics in the U.S.
Americans may
participate and even
organize open house events,
conferences and
robotic competitions.
The
current calendar has already documented several appointments across the United States.
The
goal of the National Robotics Week is mainly to
introduce the public to this new technology and its impact on society,
encourage the disbursement of new funds for research and development, and
attract new students in Robotics, Science, Engineering and Mathematics.
Robotics is important because it affects today
more and more industries such as those in sectors of health, national defense, domestic security, energy, logistics, transportation, agriculture, education, consumer products and many others.
