While our neighbors in the USA use drones for warfare and spying, here in Canada we have other types of applications for UAVs that address other types of peace-disturbing assailants: geese.
Steve Wambolt was hired by the city of Ottawa as part of a pilot project to scare away Canada geese from Petrie Island, a beach that has been closed in the past because of poor water quality. So far the program seems successful and they might move to other beaches next year. What do you think about the robotic solution to this problem. Is it technological overkill or a brilliant idea?
