EPIC GigaPan: robots for cameras

Posted on 17/03/2010 by vabry
GigaPan GigaPan robots are automated systems for cameras. These include devices that have taken the world's most important photographs such as the panoramic Obama investiture photo with 1.5 billion pixels. The new range of GigaPan includes the EPIC, the EPIC 100 and the Epic Pro. Prices vary between 350 and 1000 dollars. Its functioning is quite simple: the robot makes the camera take pictures at regular intervals and the camera (which remains perfectly stable) autonomously turns. The Epic can make 360-degree horizontal turns and can tilt vertically from 65 to 90 degrees.
