A complete new update :) Since the old robotic arm was so terrible I decided to spend a pound or two on some acrylic and make robot arm version two, and here it is. My ability to cut acrylic really is terrible, but it seems to have worked and anything looks better than that balsa wood.... I still need to write and upload some code to the arduino to control it, which I will do tomorrow. I intend to teach it to type random set phrases on the keyboard first by making a library for it which should be interesting :P

Ok so I have experimented with getting it to type, which unsurprisingly took ages but at last it can now type the letters LMR! I'm going to keep chipping away at figuring out the servo positions for every letter and then I can put them into an easy to use library :)

Arm-ish things

  • Actuators / output devices: 2 x HiTec Servos, 1 x mini servo
  • Control method: Moves according to code
  • CPU: arduino - atmega328
  • Operating system: Arduino
  • Power source: USB or 6 x AA
  • Target environment: Indoors on a table or on top of a robot
