Ultra fast robotic hand

Posted on 14/06/2010 by vabry in Prototypes
This robotic hand is quite amazingly accurate. By the Ishikawa Komuro laboratory at the University of Tokyo, this hand prototype shows very promising reflexes and speed. With only three fingers, the hand can juggle with a straw, throw then catch a flying object (a cell phone here), hold and move a grain of rice with a claw, throw a ball with force into a basket, tie a knot and even juggle with a ping-pong ball. The prototype was presented last year at ICRA 09 but you'll find a more complete and very convincing demonstration video below. Please note that it only takes one tenth of a second for the hand to close. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-KxjVlaLBmk
