Here's some good news for
Humanoid lovers: more than 1000 humanoid robots (1007 to be exact) staged a dancing performance at the Qingdao Beer Festival in the eastern coastal province of Shandong in China.
This army of robots danced in unison for 60 seconds and nearly doubled the previous record of 540 held by
UBTECH Robotics to achieve a new world record. 1040 robots were meticulously set in place for the event, however 33 of them didn't have the chance to break a new Guinness Record with their 1007 colleagues (disqualified for falling over while grooving). All the robots were controlled by one mobile phone. There was a technology expert from a robot association, who acted as witness to this new world record, and official Guinness World Records adjudicator Angela Wu verified the new record on site.

The QRC-2 robots used were developed by Ever Win Company & Ltd , a local (relative to UBTECH) electric components manufacturer. It is 17.2 inches (43.8 centimeters) tall, mostly white with some red accent color on the tops of its head, ears, elbows, and hips. These humanoid robots are talented dancers and have 18 degrees of freedom allowing for a versatile range of motion. Additionally, special encryption technology was used to block interference from other mobile phones and
bluetooth devices during this demonstration, as explained by Ever Win’s chief technology officer, Quan Jinyou. The QRC-2 Humanoid Robot is not commercially available, though has the looks of the Alpha 2 Humanoid Robot from
UBTECH.
