NASA to Mars Rover - Drive or Die!
It looks like Spirit, one of the Mars rovers, has gotten itself in a bad situation. It's exploring an interesting feature on Mars called "Home Plate", but the Martian winter is coming on, which means low temperatures and low light levels. Scientists would love to say and continue exploring, but if Spirit doesn't get a move-on, it will die. "Our current focus is to drive like hell … and try to get [Spirit] to safe winter havens before the power situation gets really bad," said Steve Squyres, lead Mars Rover Exploration scientist at Cornell University.
