Japan has just unveiled two new humanoid robot prototypes,
M3-Kindy and
Noby.

M3-Kindy is a 5 year old android weighing 27 kg with 42 degrees of freedom.
The M3-Kindy robotic child is packed with sensors: more than 109 in total (including video camera eyes).
It was developed with the aim of studying adult-children interactions and to see how robots are capable of learning themselves and about their environment.

Noby is a robotic baby aged 9 months that is 71 cm tall and weighs 8 kg.
It has 6 times as many sensors as M3-Kindy (around 600).
