iCub learns to catch a ball

icub iCub Robocub is a humanoid robot that looks like a "big" baby (one meter tall!). The result of a European project and fitted with more than 50 sensors, it was created with the aim of studying the cognition and learning of children. Be aware that this robot initially comes as an empty shell. It doesn't know anything but humans teach it gestures and behaviors progressively like a real baby. Below, it is shown how to catch a ball. The speed is certainly not exceptional yet but researchers are first concentrating on the precision. Then, we hope that iCub will be able to catch a baseball in the future: -)
