Candy-05: The robot that plays golf

Robot Golfeur Would Tiger Woods be able to finally retire, since his replacement is coming from where we least expected it? Did someone say robotics? Candy-05 is the latest in robotic prototypes funded through NEDO (New Energy & Industrial Technology Development Organization) and developed by the Hajime Research Institute in Japan. Candy-05 measures 1.20 m in height and its specialty is golf. Currently, it is only able to putt, which is already a great accomplishment. The robot detects the exact location of the ball on the ground with the cameras on its head. Then it locates the position of the hole and it putts it... into the hole. It was originally designed as a robot for amusement parks. The video will leave you no doubt of its talent: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ASra6CadpI
