BionicOpter, Festo Builds a Dragonfly

Festo, the german automation company, recently unveiled its latest creation: BionicOpter, a robotic dragonfly. This new robot emulates the complex flight technique of a dragonfly and is capable of high manoeuvrability as shown in the video below. Once again, Festo uses biomimicry to create quite an elegant and capable robot. This robot uses a rather clever design and features a very ingenious mechanism, that allows it to have all the degrees of freedom and complex motion capability required while remaining light and efficient.
