It is a mini 4 Pin connector that is attached to a 1 watt 2.4GHz transmitter. I have seen these connectors on other wireless transmitters before, so it isn’t unique to this one.
I need the female connector that goes along with this. It is smaller than a typical motherboard CD_IN conneciton. Typically, I would just cut the connector off and wire it directly; but I need to not damage this unit in the event I can return it for not meeting my needs.
So… anyone have any ideas? Any thoughts where I can get the other 1/2?
It looks like an MTA .100" connector but I’m not sure of the real size in the photo. Do the pins have about the same spacing as the pins on the Lynxmotion bot board or the SSC-32? If your connecter will fit on these pins, then it’s a .100" spacing, which means you can use any MTA .100" male connector except shrouded headers in which case you will need a polarized version.
I have a bunch of these at home. The pin spacing is more like 0.070". They are very popular inside stereos and stuff because they are smaller than the .100" connectors.
It is the same type of connector that is used for the sharp IR range sensor. JST I believe, but will confirm this soon.
The site also seems to offer samples, so you won’t have to pay for it.
It looks like you will need a B4B-PH-K-S , or a S4B-PH-K-S if you want the side entry type. The plug you have should be a PHR-4.
If you want the low insertion force type, get the KL insted of the K (B4B-PH-KL)
I guess I could have taken out my Micrometer Calipurs and actually measured it… The bad thing was, I thought about it - but then discarded the idea when I realized the battery in the Micrometer was near dead. But, reading both SN96 and Kroony’s post made the dim lightbulb turn on in my head.
When I put the calipurs “centered” between the pin openings, it measures .070" Here are the crappy pictures:
Of course, my measurements not being exact; I found the 2mm (.079") to be a “standard” size. Kroony, the JST site looks great; but I think I should try to find one here locally (like Jameco) for I don’t think international shipping (to the US) would be practical for a little part.
Thank you BOTH very much for answering my question promptly. I just need to dig through the Jameco stuff and try to find one. Unfortunately, it seems like they are missing lots of pictures for each item… And I am a window shopper.
Other than the Aerocomm kit you already have I am not sure what else you have picked up at this point. The small LCD display we were talking about can come from DK if you have not got that yet. Might want to see if you can buy or buy the parts for an extension for the antenna wire, possibly a bulkhead type mount for it that you can mount in/on/through the box. Have you got the video equipment yet?
I received the video equipment today, and thats why I needed the connection wire for the transmitter (this thread).
We never had a chance to speak about the Antenna stuff in detail, but the Aerocomm units have a little wire from the transceiver to the actual bulkhead where the antenna screws on. I was going to ask is this what we need in greater length? Does the cable make a difference?
Do you need the female part or the male part? If you actually need the male part, for testing you could probably just use some cat3 phone wire like below to see if your setup will work. http://www.geocities.com/zoomkat/pix/conn1.jpg
