Trouble establishing connection between IDE and AtomPro

I am new to the Basic AtomPro, and I am having trouble connecting the IDE to the microcontroller. When I go under Tools>> Preferences>> General and I click on Find AtomPro, it normally doesn’t find it, but sometimes it does. When it does, I then click on Debug or Program, but it then gives me an error message that reads as follows:

Error connecting to Atom:
The operation completed successfully.

I am doing this on my laptop and using a usb to serial adapter. Does anybody know what the problem could be?

In the Preferences window click the advanced button. Check the reset hold time. If it isn’t at 25 set it to 25 and retry finding the module. If it is at 25, then try values from 10 to 100. If none work then it could be the IDE just doesn’t liek your USB adapter. What brand is it?

Have you used the usb to serial cable sucessfully before? Some laptops do not power their usb ports by default. You may need to enable it, or use a powered hub.

I am having the exact same error come up, but I am not using a laptop, and i have successfully used this serial adapter for my BS2 before. I am able to program my Basic Atom Pro 28, but it only programs it like 1 in 9 times. Please help, it is so frustrating, the debug doesn’t even work!

Did you try adjusting the reset hold time explained above?
