SSC-32 No Pulse Out

Hello,

I 've just received my SSC-32 unit.
I wonder if my unit is not defective.

  • I am using the LynxTerm.
  • Com is ok with my PC (commands are transmitted well, version is sent back by the unit to Term when I use the **VER **command ==> SSC32-V2.03XE).
  • Power supply is a new 9V battery (I also tried to use 2 different PS, on for the unit and one for the servo lines)
  • 9V is present on the servo PS lines

First try is a regular #0 P1500 (followed by CR)
I tried different commands, values…
But no pulse is transmitted to the output pin of the board connected to the servo.
I tested it also with a logic analyzer…
I also tested different servo outputs of the board.

I m using a “TowerPro microservo SG90” and also a “Mystery S0009” servo.
All these servos are working with my arduino.

Could you help me ?

Stéphane

In fact, channels 0 to 15 do not work but channels 16 to 32 does…

check your jumpers? make sure you are receiving power down both sides on VS1 and VS2?

Wwooo hold on are you powering the board and servos with 9V??
The board does have a regulator but seriously you only need a 6volt battery for your servos.
also a picture of it will help us solve this.

In fact, I also tried using 6 V for servos and 9V for VL.
But anyway, with no servo connected, I have a regular pulse servo control signal on lines 16 to 31 (seen on a scope) but no signal at all on lines 0 to 15.

It looks like if the 2 registers (HC595) that drive lines 0 to 15 have PB (otherwise, I don’t understand why half the board is working…)

Thanhs for help !

From what you say, it sounds like the board is bad. You might want to email support or the like and see about an RMA.

If you had only checked by plugging in servos, I would have suggested, that you check the jumpers on the board. In particular the VS1=VS2 jumpers. But as you said you tested it using a Logic Analyzer, that does not sound like the issue.

I also have a brand new SSC-32 with firmware SSC32-V2.03XE that has the same issue.

The difference is I don’t get a pulse on any of the SSC-32 outputs. Both sides appear to be dead. I have a single 7.2V NiCd battery powering the SSC-32 with all VL=VS and VS1=VS2 jumpers installed. This SSC-32 responds to the “ver” command and communicates at 115200 to a hardware serial port. I’ve had servos attached to pins 0, 1 and 16, 17 for testing.

My other two older SSC-32’s work just fine with the same configuration.

After doing some tests through our Support Center with penbird97, we determined the board must be defective and issued a replacement.

@linuxguy, if you are still having problems with your board, please contact us through the Technical Support department in our Support Center.

I am, and I will. Thanks.

I just tried this, but apparently I do not have a login there and there doesn’t seem to be any registration available. WHY is this not linked automatically to my existing RobotShop account?

You do not need to login to submit a ticket: when you submit your first ticket, an account will automatically be created for you.

Currently, our Support Center uses separate accounts from our RobotShop.com store, but we are looking at changing this. We apologize for the confusion.

Ah, OK.
