SEQ not saving home position parameters

I’ve read all the post, and haven’t seen this problem posted yet. So it makes me wonder if I’m doing something wrong or missing a step or something.

I did a screen shot to help visually.

When I pull up the Sequencer, I would expect all the servos (chosen ones) in my project to be all positioned on there “home position” when I saved in the Config file earlier. But instead, for some reason, most of the servos are not on zero degrees like they are supposed to be. Instead they’re off by a degree or two. I circled a couple in red, you can see some others are off too.
I went back to make sure I didn’t save them in the Config file like this, and all the servos are saved on zero or neutral position and that all my max and min are set.
I even started a new project, thinking that that would solve the problem, but it does the same thing.

Secondly, circled in black are the two most annoying problems. The other problem, I can live with, but this (in black) is driving me crazy!
When I do a sequence, saving the steps like I want them, then go to play the sequence; all the servos in the sequence do what they are supposed to do except for these two servos!
See where the blue is in the box? They will go to the end of those and stay there. Even though I used them in the sequence, it still does it.
As you can see, #19 servo should actually be #5. I changed servo channels thinking that was the problem. I even changed servos, same problem.

My robot needs help. He can’t walk if his knee keeps going up on him!

Thanks,

Tony

Hi,

check out your Servo Center positions. I think its a problem with the setup file. If you klick on the SSC-32 button in the configuration section and load the home positions what happens?
Is there every servo in the home position with 0° or not? If not calibrate the servo again or load your setup file and check again the positions.

Hi,

I checked again just now and all the servos are currently at zero degrees. I pulled up the Sequencer again, and most of the servos are still off by several degrees.
What do you mean by “problem with setup file”?

Still scratchin’ my bald head.

Now, they are changed even in the Config file! What is going on? I don’t save it like this. But it’s changing after I save it!
ARRRRG!

Sometimes the sequencer starts but the saved configuration file must be load again. If you start the sequencer load the configuration file again and check the values.

The SEQ program will load information from the SSC-32 as you go from module to module. If you are seeing odd behavior the most likely problem will be with the speed and reliability of the serial communication.

Start here, remember Atom programming and SSC-32 communication are both very demanding on the serial port.

If you can’t get anywhere with the above thread we will start the question and answer part of the troubleshooting.

Thanks Jim,

It just so happens that I do recall seeing something about how that different USB to Serial cables effects the way some of these programs work.
I did try a different cable and it seems to have worked so far. I’ll play around with the Latency to see if it will clear up the two servos in the Sequencer that still have the blue lines in their boxes. At least for now, the knee is not acting up when I run the walk sequence, since I changed the cable.

Why these USB to Serial cables all have to be different, is beyond me.

Thanks for everybody response, now maybe I can focus on the task at hand,…ROBOTS!!

Just adjust latency to its minimum. That is the “magic” that makes these good cables work and the crappy ones not work.
