Selecting parts

Hi,

I need some help for my project…

Which type of motors can bear about 10 Kg weight via a chain and can stop every 1 cm…doing some process and then release the chain another 1 cm and so on…

I am a novice and just started to think about my project.

Thank you

Can you provide a sketch or drawing of the setup?
Note that normally when selecting a DC gear motor, the most important criteria are the torque, then the RPM, then the voltage.
If you’d like to suspect 10kg, you’d need to know the diameter of the pulley in order to calculate the torque needed (estimate Torque = radius of pulley x load). Note that this does not factor in acceleration or inertia.
For 10Kg, you’ll likely need the shaft to be supported at its end.
In order to stop every 1cm, you’ll need an encoder on the rear shaft of the motor which is connected to a microcontroller. The microcontroller counts the number of turns, which corresponds to rotation. You would calculate the corresponding linear distance traveled using basic math.
The control of the motor is best done using a DC motor controller.
