RoBoard - power supply

Hi,

I would like to know if you have any power supply available for the RoBoard ?

Is the RB-Spa-103 ok to power it up ?

Jonathan,

I’ll take your suggestion into consideration. My project is about to build a energy-efficient HTPC to do some couch surfin’. A simple, silent, low-energy consumption system with a simple interface (A web-oriented OS, ChromeOS-like). After that, I project to test it under video display (average quality, not HD for sure )

Also, don’t you propose any empty case to put the functionnal RoBoard in it ? I don’t want to saw a bunch of wires and green cards all over the living room table. A case similar to a Fit-PC. Any suggestion ?

Read. After considering the RoBoard, I came to the same idea. It is not designed for a project like mine. I’ll check something else.

Does RobotShop prospect to enlarge its selection of speciality computers ?

There are so many interesting products, like the Beagle Board, the Picotux (this one is awesome, so small!), all Gumstix and Aleutia.

I know that it is not direct robotic industry related products, but IMO, your store can become a leader in all electronic parts with exclusive products like those.

Happy monday guys!

This product looks pretty interesting indeed. But I just saw too that it is not available. Is there any known date of availability ?

Also, will you offer a ā€œreasonnableā€ shipping price to Greece ?
The Roboard was going to cost me 70$ to ship it to me.

Carbon, although the RoBoard has all the required hardware for your application, it is not primarily intended for that. As you know, the main sellin point of the RoBoard is that is provides easy connections for servo motors, I2C interface and other robotics applications.

Nevertheless, keep us posted about your progress, it will be really interesting to see the end result.

Hi Carbon, I think we might have something that fits your needs exactly. We have recently (yesterday) listed a new mini computer that might interest you: the Genesi Efika MX Open Client.

[LEFT]It is a very capable computer (similar in power to a netbook) that is fan-less (so very silent) and comes with HDMI video and audio output, SD car reader, Bluetooth, Wifi, and more.

Roboard with a keyboard and mouse only draws just under 1 AMP. Add some powered USB devices and you may brown-out. What are ya using exactly with your RoBoard? We would suggest a RB-Sha-04 at the least. Then you can tally the requirements on any external devices to get a better idea of your needs. Best bet is to keep a good Lab Power Supply on hand

We do not have a precise recipt date, it may be up to a month for new stock. However if you need it faster, place an order online (2 weeks). In terms of shipping cost, hard to see without knowing your postal address, but 70$ seems abnormal unless you selected a very fast shipping method. Keep in mind that soon our European logisitcs will be optimized so this will surely make you happy
