Hello Frankie!
First we are going to need some information.
Which IDE are you using?
Which program are you trying to put on the Atom? Is it a program from the tutorials?
Have you tried using the PS2 controller on a game console? It’s a good way to test it.
Which PS2 controller are you using?
Are you using our cable, or a homebrew one?
Hi
the program is from the tutorials, the PS2 controller i bought from Lynxmotion, the cable came with SES arm, BMAtom 2211, or Basic ATOM 5310 software
thank for your time
frankie
From your emnail you said you are using the tutorial from here.
lynxmotion.com/images/html/build091.htm
It was written for the 2.2.1.1 IDE. So don’t bother trying the other one. Also the images you sent are still not clear enough to see the jumper settings. Does the LED’s on the PS2 receiver light up? One should light steady, and the other should be blinking until it connects to the hand heald unit.
So lets stay here in the forum. When you post here and send me email it makes double work for me.
Sounds like the same problem i was having, except mine worked when i first bought it,
and then when i turned it on one time,i didn’t get a signal.
Does the Led on the controller keep blinking?
Hi
Sorry for the email
The receiver light one stay on the other blink, the controller light both are blinking and I wait for 5 min and one blink. I plug wired controller ps2 and work but is so slow going up or down, side to side etc.
Can I disconnect the DB9 cable and stir be able to control the arm? I try without the cable and it doesn’t work.
It is normal for the 2 servo motor is attached to the base to get hot? Sorry with to many question
Thank for your help
frankie
- no the servo should not get hot!
- if the light blinks, that meens its not recieving a signal.
Suggestions :
-
you are applying too much power to the servos
-
try changing the batteries i the PS2 controller,if both light are blinking, that meen that the batteries are going dead and the controller can’t find the receiver.
Hi
I bougth another controller pelican nerf ps2 and work but the program that i download is so slow and jerk going up or down, side to side etc and I increase the speed and jerk to much is not smooth at all any suggestion.

The 2 servo motor attached to the base is getting hot and I am using the plug that came with the arm 6V DC
Thanks for your help

Did you follow the alignment process described in the tutorial? If you don’t have the servos aligned properly and receiving the same signal they are fighting each other and that’ll make them good and hot.

Are you by anychance running in DEBUG mode? Thats the only time you HAVE to have the dp9 cable plugged in after it’s programmed for it to run.
What specifically are you changing in the program. We can’t help if we don’t know what you’re doing.
