Strange, I’ve never seen that error with lynxterm, even when the ssc-32 is disconnected from the USB serial adapter. Are you using a USB serial adapter or a hardware serial port? In lynxterm what are your available com ports?
One thing I noticed on a board that wouldn’t communicate was the serial port enable jumpers were installed wrong. Place the board so you can read SSC-32. Ensure all of the jumpers are vertically oriented.
Please reply to the above posts as well so we can figure this out. We have never had a situation that was not able to be resolved.
I am going to assume that you don’t have a hardware serial port, and using USB - Serial Converter.
What kind of cable are you using?
I was using some cheap $10 cable at first and it constantly crapped out on me. I bought a new cable (the one recommended by Lynxmotion) and ever since, I had no problems.
Try using a lower baud rate first, see if that helps, also try using COM5+ to avoid any conflict with other hardware.
look like a problem from my computer… i tried the board on my friend computer and he recognized it (P4 with xp)…
i thinked that can be the cable not good enought for my signal, so i bought a new one… nothing changed…
maybe my com port on my motherboard? i bought a pci-serial card (com3-com4) … the card installed perfectly but with this one, the green light still on (not receiving data) and, before you ask, i adjusted the baud rate in control panel and the com in visual sequencer
maybe a windows 7 problem? i formated my computer and still the same problem…
x64 compatibility problem? i installed the x86 version to try… same problem…
now, i’ll try with vista/xp to see if that can work… i’ll see in 4 hours when the download/install will end…
if that not working… hmmm… maybe buying a new computer…
i think my final attempt will be a prayer to God
that really suck that i don’t have any other serial device to try the ports then the ssc32…
Motherboard: Asus M2N-VM DVI
P.s.: the TX RX jumper are verticaly ( || ) installed
Well at this time there was no problem with your ssc-32.
You have done so much to your computer that you may have many issues with it.
Using lynxterm, look in the upper left to see what com port is chosen (there is a drop down that will show all com ports if you have more than one available). If there is more than one com port, try the others. Often com ports 1-4 are taken by internal modems and such (type at on a suspect comport and if OK is returned, a modem is using the port).
The green LED is a status indicator. It’s job is to turn on with power up. Then to go out when it has received serial data, and blink when it’s receiving data. The data can be the wrong baud rate, formatted wrong, and complete total jibberish. The LED will still go out. If your LED is not going out then NOTHING is happening at the serial port you have selected. Either select a different serial port, or change where you have the cable plugged in on the PC.
the card worked only one time on my friend computer (the P4 with xp)… i disconnected the card, connected back (without changing anything) and i’m not able to get it working anymore… i tried it on 5 differents computers on the serial port…
i even tried on another friend computer who use a serial vinyl plotter (so he got a 100% working serial port) and the card don’t work there too…
so, with this card, i only got a back signal once on over 50 tries (its like having a dvd player that work once a year)…
so, to get this card working, i bought 3 serial cable (to be sure that not the cable), a 2 serials PCI card (even if i got a working one on my motherboard), i formated my computer to see if its not a windows 7 bug, tried vista, xp too… i tried each possible baud on card and in the configuration (jumpers/device manager/Sequencer)… so, i spent lots of hours to get this card working, tried each possible way to configure it and, after 2 week trying i can confirm i got a broken one…
P.s.: I ONLY TRIED ON SERIAL PORT! NO USB CABLE OR ■■■■ LIKE THAT!!!
