Does anyone have any plans of a stand for the biped scout? I’m thinking about building a stand for it for use during development, such as during calibration of the movement (centering, range of movement, etc.) so the servos wouldn’t be loaded with weight.
So far, my hands have been the stand and it’s hard to type and do other things while holding my biped! I’m thinking of getting an errector-set like toy or something to build it up. Maybe my old legos…
That cool! I could go do that too! nails in the ceeling to hold the wire.
I’d go with something simple, you don’t want to make a stand from metal that you spent days machining, sanding and building. Maybe haging wire from two desk lamps, it depends on what you have at your place.
I can see for centering servos a stand would be useful, but for walking gates, the bot needs to be standing on the ground. I also think that to zero a bot it needs to be standing on the ground as well to get the best results.
I bought this wine holder that holds a bottle of wine at an angle. It’s made of thin metal dowels and it seems to be strong enough to hold the biped but still weak enough to be bent by hand (with a little help of a vise). Going to try that out and see.
As for the walking/centering, it is true that it would be best to let the walker stand. I just needed a stand to hold my biped for testing out the range for each servos. This is a one time data collection, so holding it by hand wouldn’t be so bad
Still, a stand would be helpful for walking gaits since I can configure the servo’s position on the stand and take it off and put it on the floor to test out whether the combination of servo positions will still allow my biped to stand (or fall).
