My brother’s friend built me my first workbench back when I was 16 years old and that bench lasted me 14 years before I decided to chop it up and build a new one. After 10 years of going without a work bench, I figure the time has come to build my own workbench for the first time.
I wanted a simple workbench that has plenty of surface area and is very solid. A bench that would resist rocking back and forth when sawing, sanding, etc… The workbench is 95% complete. I still need to buy another sheet of 3/4" particle board to place on top. The top piece will be 8’ long x 3’10" deep x 3/4 thick. There will be 6" overhang on each end for clamping things and 1" overhang on the front, flush at the back side so it can be butted up to the wall for a peg board later.
The board you see resting on top in the photos is just a scrap piece from the bottom shelf.
I also wanted a workbench for my milling machine for future projects.
Zenta, after seeing all your skilled handy work, you have inspired me to do my best and take my time to get the best quality work possible. When it comes to wood working, I have never seemed to be able to make anything decent.
For too long I have gone without a decent work shop. Everything used to done at either my kitchen table, or at the computer desk. It’s time I start to form a decent workshop in the garage.
Although I’d added .pdf to the list of extensions the forum understands, I’d forgotten to mark it as an “allowed” extension. All ought to be well now. ViaCAD (workbench2).pdf (37.4 KB)
