This may sound like one of the stupidest questions you have ever heard but I was wondering, do you need a microcontroller to make an autonomous roboot using the SSC-32. IF so what should I get.
Thanks
Well the good news is you can use any microcontroller capable of sending serial data. I’m not aware of any microcontroller that can’t do this. Which one to get depends on personal preference. I would recommend the Basic Atom 28 and the Bot Board due to the large number of example programs available from the website…
Although, it should be noted that the Basic Stamps, and OOPICs have their own huge resevoirs of code, as well.
Some have said that the BasicX and Basic Atom have no real active code on their site, but the Basic Atom is used frequently on the lynxmotion forums, so that’s not a problem for that microcontroller.
Oh, and, the best way to decide which you want to get is to surf each site, download their user manuals, and start reading them.
If they bore you to death, don’t explain what they’re doing well, or the site is annoying, pick another.
You’re going to need to refer to your microcontroller’s material frequently, so pick something that you like reading.
I was referring specifically to SSC-32 walking robot code. The OOPic may have lots of sample code available, but I seriously doubt any of it would be useful for multichannel servo based walking robots.
