I am working on a tracked robot, the website is somewhat confusing and I am not sure which parts with which. Could somebody who knows their stuff help me? These are the parts I need right now, and maybe somebody knows where to find the exact dimensions and such?
I am building my robot in AutoDesk inventor first…
Electric motor x 2 (needs to have some “power” to climb stairs)
Motor bracket x 2
Track x 2 (3†wide)
2 x 4 gears (without propulsion)
2 x 1 gear (with propulsion, connected to a motor)
This is what I am thinking should work, but am not 100% sure they are all compatible.
4 x Passive Idler Hub - 3" (pair)
5 x Track Sprocket - 9 Link (Pair)
2 x Universal Hub - 6mm (pair)
4 x Track - 3" Wide x 21 links ~23" (single)
2 x Gear Head Motor - 12vdc 30:1 253rpm (6mm shaft)
It’s quite impossible for us (lynxmotion) to try to design a chassis for our customers. It takes weeks for us to design, test, and release a product based on these components. The design is not terribly difficult. It’s based on the RPM and torque of the motors and the diameter of the rotating components. From that you can figure the speed and strength of the final design. Do some google searches, a great deal can be done with a calculator and some basic design formulas. However there is no way to really know what works without actually building it. I could guestimate, but then if it doesn’t work as expected I’m the bad guy. No thanks… I’m happy to help with basic questions though.
The gear head motors GHM-01, 02, 03, 04, 12, 13, 16 and the PGHM-01, 02, 03 can all use the MMT-02 or MMT-03 mounts.
The 6 or 9 tooth sprockets can attach to the HUB-02, 11, and 13. The HUB-11 is for 2" tracks and the HUB-13 is for 3" tracks. I would stay with 2" tracks if it were me. They would offer less friction when doing the same job as the 3" ones. They also fit the driven sprocket better than the 3" ones.
Everything will physically fit and work together though.
