My ssc-32 is not working. Please help me

Heey… My ssc-32 is not working good any more, the good processor LED is not working, I don’t know what to do. It also cannot be conected to the computer. Please asnwer me. Its urgent!

Are you using the SSC-32 in a robot or arm?

Are you running it from a wall power supply or battery?

Can you show us a picture of how you have everything wired up, especially your power connections?

We need more information before we can help much.

I’m using it on an arm

I power up the VS1by the wall with 5v… and the VL with a 9v battery

everything was ok until i try to install a input sensor, and then the ssc-32 didnt wanted to work…

5V is not enough to properly power the servos in an arm or anything else. You need at least 6V DC @ 1600 mAH going to VS1 for things to work right, to be sure you have enough power for awhile, and to get the most out of your servos. Did you remove the VS=VL jumper on the SSC-32 to separate the VL and VS power connections? The VL=VS jumper must be removed or your setup will not work right.

Are you using RIOS to control your arm?

Sounds like your “input sensor” is probably causing the problem, or you miswired something connecting it up.

I remove the sensor already, but maybe it caused something on the ssc-32 that makes it not to work.

Yep, i’ve already that jumper remove.

Unfortunately I think you already answered your question. You must have wired the sensor incorrectly and damaged the voltage regulator on the SSC-32. Can you apply power and measure the output of the regulator. It should provide 5vdc. It’s pretty easy to know if the regulator is the problem. If you’re lucky it’s just the regulator and it can be replaced. Good luck.

It outputs 4.97 V … so that means the regulator is good?

=( what else can I do?

If the regulator is good and the LED will not light then the processor is dead. Remove all of the jumpers, servos, and sensors. Apply a 9vdc battery to the VL input and pray for the green LED to light. You can try to force the firmware update, but if the processor is really dead it will not help. Good luck with it.

so, if it dont turn on, and the procesor is death… there’s nothing to do?

I mean, the ssc-32 will not work anymore??

Yes, I’m sorry, but it looks as if the SSC-32 has died. I don’t know of anything else that can be done. :frowning:

Perhaps if the chip is dead and the board is still good, there might be a possibility of getting another AMEGA8P chip and try flashing it

I have another ATmega8L, how can I flash it so that I can use it with my ssc-32 board???..

Here is the link for the information. I do not know how to do it though…

Jim, you have several links to very useful information pages but I can never locate them by navigating the website. You posted a nice servo page the other day that explains how servos work but I can’t find it by navigating the LM web page. You should put these pages in one place called General info. or whatever.

The site is large and it grows weekly. :open_mouth: Much useful info is provided in the product pages, but you have to click, wait for it… “more info” lol

I will try to see what can be done. BTW the servo information page is on the Home page on the right where it says “What’s a Servo”

Huh? I must be blind because yesterday I spent literally 30 min looking fo such a page, stopping to marvel at some of the cool products along the way I must admit - so distracting they are…

I see the “what’s a servo link” I never look right, just left.
