I have a need to mount a sensor that will rotate with the wrist of the Little Grip. I need to be able to mount the Little Grip to an SES servo horn instead of having it attach directly to the wrist rotation servo. This will allow me to also attach other SES brackets to the servo horn as well to accomplish what I want to do.
The servo horn would then be attached to the servo in the usual way. I would prefer not to have to modify the Little Grip other than to drill two 2-56 holes to allow it to mount to the servo horn, but this may not be reasonable because it would require a custom bracket. The ideal way to do this would be to have a custom SES compatible bracket that would slip around the collar of the Little Grip and attach to it flush using two 2-56 screws.
The only other (and easier) alternative would be to cut the collar of the Little Grip off and then just attach it to a servo horn using two 2-56 screws. I’m considering whether to just go ahead and modify the Little Grip or not, because I don’t really think I would lose any functionality and would still retain the wrist rotation.
well, I’m not suggesting to use it as it was intended, a little modification with the dremel tool would be necessary…
What I mean is, instead of mounting the little grip attachment piece to the C-bracket, drill four holes that matches the servo horns (or the SES pattern) so that you can attach it to your metal servo horn.
The reason why I suggest this attachment piece is so you wouldn’t have to modify the little grip piece. It’s just as easy to modify the little grip piece to fit the servo horn, but an adapter is what I would use to prevent altering to the original…
