I'm BACK!

Yes, this feels so good :D

This evening, I had my first building-time in what feels like for freakin ever!!

I still will not have as much time as last year (I have become a dad ;), but I am building robots again!!

First one is planned to be a robot that likes itself.. pretty much, the thought of it makes me laugh, I hope it will be cool, and if not it still is so good to be BACK in the workshop! :D

Unnamed still, it will be a robot with a trailer.

Drivig around with the trailer, finding places with certain conditions.

Once it finds a good spot, it de-attaches the trailer.

It then drives to.. (let's see), and then by remote it turns on a pulsating laser on the trailer.

The laser on the trailr (see pictures below) can spin 360 degrees (2 servos on top op each other), and the robot can control it, and this way show the robot where the trailer is.

On the trailer is a camera, and while the robot does the .. and also some .. it makes the camera take pictures of it.. because it is so happy about itself :D Posing it's.. ! :D

Then when the robot fels it's don snapshooting, the camera on the trailer is swung back into driving-position, the robots laser-sensor-wheel is possibly folded down (not sure how it should be done, but it would look ace I think), and it drives back to the trailer, hooks up (I think it will track it by magnetic pulses, and lock on somehow)

.. and drives on to the next spot to enjoy itself with .. and the .. (it may be a little rude)

I Ggt the laser done this evening (Have not tested it, not sure if it works):

We are back at paint sticks!

Is that a double servo setup, so you can achieve full 360 scanning? Ingenious.

PS: welcome to LMR Newbie!

Dont call it a comeback
I been here for a year
Rockin my bots and usin servos an' gears
Makin the gears roll round like a wheel MOVE
Listen to the bot go boom
Explosion magic smoke
Over the competition Im rollin

Yes, (Just edited the post)

Yes, (Just edited the post) - it’s 2 servos on top.

I could make it a gear-ratio-thing, but I’d lose some resolution. Now I have 300 steps for some 380 degrees or something. I think

I just took a small wooden screw, and cut it, then stuck one part into each servos pin, twisted till locked, and it seems solid!

Yeah
Yeah

That’s a fun idea  One of the first ideas I had for a robot, years ago, was a photography-bot. I pictured something that would have a camera attached, and it would drive around looking at the scenery, looking for ‘pretty’ things to take pictures of. The way I imagined it could decide what’s pretty is that it could have a database of all the ‘artistic’ pictures I’ve ever taken, and it would use some sort of AI pattern recognition algorithm to determine if whatever it’s looking at now has a similar quality to the pictures I’ve taken in the past. If so, it would take a picture. I still think it’s a cool idea, but I bet what I’d really end up with is a bunch of pictures of chair legs and walls and stuff

I can dig it…
Sounds like a awesome robot. :stuck_out_tongue:

Trailer?
Hmmm… I feel a challenge coming on. A robot to REVERSE a trailer…

Should be a trail then, two
Should be a trail then, two trailers at least, just managing one would be too easy IMHO; A potmeter on the axle, a few lines of simple "condition-style" code…
