I'm alive!!!

Howdy,

Well… Sorry I’ve been gone for the past week. I forgot to let you guys know I will be gone. My mom forced me to come to Costa Rica for vacation. I am back now  It is almost 3am here so I won’t get into detail really. We have close to a thousand+ images that I get the fun job to download! I’ll upload a few to imageshack tomorrow. Some very pretty things  I’ll post a full description/“blog” tomorrow thought. I’ve got other forums to catch up to >_<;; 400+ threads to read and a few hundred emails.

Cheer,

Ohhh… I knew a girl from Costa Rica once… um, nevermind. 8)
Bummer though dude, getting forced to go off to some carribean country for a week and all… did they make you stay at one of those resort places too?

I’ll get into it more detail later… but basically we took a tourish package thingy and we stayed at like 3 or 4 different hotels. Very fancy places. Mostly all of them had a large pool. With cute 21 year old girls in bikinis of course. One place had a jacuzzi. And there was also a hot springs near by and we went there for a day. They had like 20 different springs there and the water was nice and warm. They had bubblers!!!

I’m currently sorting throught the 2.93GB of photos. What fun!

Man - that sounds super lame. Hey - next time you get forced to go, tell your parents I’ll pay them half of what it cost for you to be forced to go and I will go instead. This way you wont get forced into such conditions of neglect by your parents and they save money by leaving you at home

ps - I will even give them a lecture over some margaritas while on the beach on how better to leave you at home during future lame_ss trips to other lame areas of the world. lol

Chris

Thanks Chris for being very thoughtful and willing to take the pain of others  You are a true friend!

Jk - too funny

dont feel like you were forced. be grateful

Darn… You again?

I love you too mike! I missed you all. ^^ hug

Welcome back RD6!

I am not going to let you off the ESD stuff that easy so her it goes:

Yes shag carpet does generate more static than say a wood floor, but if you are wearing Nylon pants walking on wood floors for example, you are a walking thunderbolt!

I have years of ESD training to know no device is safe from ESD unless ESD protective practices are utilized. Sure you may not fry your device the first twenty times you pick it up and another twenty setting it down, but the risk remains, and if one day you find that your data cable cant recognize your MCU, you can guess what might have happened.

 • My only point is that you can easily fry a component if not careful and it does not take much to generate enough harmful ESD to do damage. Period, end of story.

I know you are not going to run out and buy ESD mats, straps, or smocks, but I just wanted to let you know that the potential is there and care should be taken to avoid unintentional damage. I usually keep my stuff in ESD Shielding bags. If you ever bought electronic components from Digi-Key, they usually have the parts in these bags, save them for reuse, and put the board in this bag when transporting the device from one place to another. Take it from a Pro, I have been in the business for 15 years dude! :stuck_out_tongue:

I’m not trying to pick on you just trying to share some of my knowledge. So for what it’s worth, there you have it.

RD6… mmmmm, looks sick =D Actually looks like a name for a future Lynxmotion bot

No worries Mike. I understand what your saying. I am, or was not, trying to deny the existence of ESD. I understand you can’t be safe from ESD unless you have the proper maps/straps etc. I don’t wear nylon. I only wear 100% cotton. Anything that I don’t use I keep in anti-static bags. If I put stuff away for storage, I use anti-static bubble wrap. I spent a lot of money on my computer (close to $800, and a lot more to go) and I do everything I can to protect it.

When my boxes of goodies came it took me 3 minutes to pickup the ram because I was afraid to fry it. I bought my ram when DDR2 was fairly expensive so it wasn’t something I could easily replace.

lol, no one wears nylon! Everyone wears polyester pants and orthopedic shoes

JK

really wish we had a sarcasm emoticon

Ok… ok, so I might be fashonably slow.
