Hello LMRians,
So i am making a sumo robot for a robot competition, and surprisingly, its gonna be a lot easier, because the control mechanism is manual ( wired or wireless) rather than the popular autonomous model using ultrasonic and IR sensors.
Anyways, i am intending to use this motor : http://robokits.co.in/owshop/index.phpmain_page=product_info&products_id=328
And this as the motor driver: http://robokits.co.in/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=73&products_id=342
I plan on making a 4WD design, so i'll need x4 of these motors and x2 of those drivers. I could control them using individual supplies for each driver, but could anyone tell/show me how can i use a single power supply ( like a sinlge Li-Po ) to control the motors with these drivers?
Thanks for the help.
What is the size and weight limit of your sumo?
What is the size and weight limit of your sumo?
Also, what wheels do you plan to use? The Indian wheels are not that great for sumo, though they are very nice for other applications. I would recommend a some sort of foam wheel.
hey jscottb,the max
hey jscottb,
the max dimensions allowed is 7x7x7 cubic inches. And the weight limit is 3kgs.
Exactly, i was wondering the same. I plan on using some high traction wheels, foam-like, as you mentioned.
I’ll give these a shot http://www.robotmarketplace.com/products/lite_flite_wheels.html :D
You will want a hub
You will need a hub to mount them like: http://www.pololu.com/catalog/product/1083
Also, I’m not sure if that driver will last long if you lockup with another 3kg sumo. In sumo you will stall for a long time many fights.
thanks
uh oh, weak driver? this was a cheap one i found, others are really expensive.
The driver is fine, just not for those motors
