We will have to get Laurent to chime in on this problem.
Here’s the error…

I also un-installed re-installed to see if maybe something didn’t copy.
I am running it on a Gateway Dual Core Tablet. Vista, 2 Gig Ram. Only software aside from the os I have would be the office suite.
I did also try compatibility mode and set it to XP service pack 2 in an effort to see if that would correct the problem.
Ok, I emailed Laurent (the author) so he should post something tonight.
Awesome. I am just sort of stuck. It is a cool robot however. I hooked it up to a xp machine and set a few steps and it was working excellent. It exceeded my expectations thats for sure. I am going to get a few more in a couple weeks for my classroom.
Hello boomtap,
Could you try to right click on the RIOS icon and select “run as administrator” please ?
It should work a bit better, if so i will tell you how to disable all the Vista BS about “user administration”, this feature is not allowing programs to work as it should, it doesn’t allow a program to write on C:/ (lol) it doesn’t allow to access normally a database (lol again) etc etc…
the first thing to do on a new PC with Vista is to try to make it work as the previous and excellent XP version
i will be online again in a few hours
I tried that as well. I still get the same error. I even went in and checked that it was to be run by and administrator. I put the setting screen shot on my website.
This got me thinking so I did go through and give users (only me) and admin (me) permission to all of the folders on my C: drive. After changing the security permissions however I still get the error. I am guessing that I might be missing one of the file locations or something along those lines.
I can’t find your blog, any link ?
try this please :
1 : uninstall RIOS, and delete the RIOS directory (“C:\Program Files\RIOS_SSC-32”)
2 : then reboot the PC
3 : install RIOS again
4 : then go to Start->control panel->user account->user account (again)->activate/desactivate user account control
then uncheck the box and click ok...
you will now be able to run RIOS with a double click...
5 : try if RIOS running
6 : if the problem still here, please go there gezginler.net/modules/mydownloads/singlefile.php?download=bde&lid=1897
download the BDE 5.1.1
install BDE 5.1.1
7 : try if RIOS working
Thanks so much for helping me with this! I will give it a try and let you know how it goes.
I did all of that above. It looked like after I installed the BDE it started to work because I had the setup screen for the RIOS pop up and then it flashed this error:

I am going to just put this on an XP machine and go that route it isn’t worth spending much more time on. I am thinking this isn’t Vista compatible at this point.
We are running RIOS on a Dell Inspiron 530S running 32 bit Vista with 2G ram SP1. And there are a lot of other people running it on Vista as well. You’re the only one currently reporting problems with Vista. It may be a little premature to say RIOS is not Vista compatible at this stage of the troubleshooting process.
Hmmm. Probably. It just isn’t worth my time getting it working on Vista anymore. It works well on the XP boxes. I have been fighting with about everything I can think of in Vista for the last couple days. I am just going to make sure that I run these bots on XP machines in my classrooms. That will make it much easier.
I don’t blame you. Personally I hate Vista. It’s those odd characters in the errors that bother me. That’s just not right. lol Anyway, sorry you’re having trouble.
It works now! I installed the update from this site, and it worked perfect afterwards. I am guessing there was something weird on my disc? Anyway aside from making me re-register my product with a registration code (that I don’t have with me at school today) I should be able to make the software work in Vista now.
Man I didn’t even ask you if you were using the latest version! My bad. I’m glad you are up and running! 8)
Both the disc, and the update claim to be the same version. When I installed the web update the software fired right up like nothing was ever wrong. So hopefully this will get me all going.
