Connecting a BOE with RIOS and SSC-32

Can someone help me , I have the RIOS and SSC-32 working together, now want to make the BOE controll them ,but I don’t want to short anything out, I have an idea ,but want to make sure so I don’t need to buy new ones before I get it working.

   Thanks Bill

All you need to do is connect two wires from the BOE to the SSC-32. A signal wire from the I/O pin and a ground. There are several examples in tutorials and even in the manual for the SSC-32. Please be more specific in your problem and I will try to help.

I was wondering if I could just plug the two DB9 ports together.

Thanks for your support and FAST reply

You could do this if you use a gender changing cable that cross connects pins 2 and 3.

It really is simpler to run the two or three wire TTL level serial connection from your robot to the SSC-32. Use two wires for sending commands only or three wires for send and receive.

Yes, but I don’t think it’s an easy feat to porgram a basic stamp to send data to the db9 serial port as it is used for programming. I dunno if this is a problem or not.

It is very simple, you just use SEROUT and change the pin to 16 or something, check the manual.

I thank all who gave me input., Its GREAT to see such fast reponse to my smiple question. Which you all must have heard before. It keeps us new people from giving up on these smiple projects.

         Thanks again
