Hi. I want to create a coin operated device for Penrith mountain rescue team to help fund raising at events . I want a motor and control system so that a coin will move a matchbox size mountain rescue land-rover along a track and then vack again,ready for a new coin to activate it again. We be in a case with mountain scene.
Any thoughts, advice etc.

You could use a small solenoid to push the car when triggered, maybe a limit switch at the end of the track to know when the car arrives, and another solenoid to push it back (or you could simply have the solenoid at the end extending and retracting constantly). To trigger it with coins you could use a photo-interrupter and a microcontroller or if you want to get fancy you could use a Programmable Coin Acceptor.
