Bot Board wiring help

I’m getting started on a R/C / autonomous aircraft and want to use my bot board. The motors I’m using are 12 volt. I’m also using R/C motor controlers instead of the Sabertooth because I have 4 motors and they all must be controlled independently, so the R/C motor controllers are cheaper and lighter.

In the attachment is a wiring diagram I got from someone who used the Arduino microprosser for this project, however, as mentioned I want to use my bot board with an Atom or similar chip that I am familiar with. The Arduino is powered by 12 volts (11.1 LIPO). From looking at the diagram, and ignoring the mocroprosser Analog / Digital pin designations, if I substituted the bot board for the Arduino, and put a 9 volt voltage regulator between the battery and the Bot Board, running it to the “Electronics Power Input” would I have any issues with the 12 volts running to the motor controllers (labeled ESC) effecting the Bot Board in a destructive way?

I I could experiment with this, but I would rather not risk melting down my Bot Board. Any thoughts on the matter would be appreciated.

You should be able to replace the Bot Board II even using the 11.1 vdc battery. Just don’t draw too much current from the Bot Bosrd II’s 5vdc supply. This will prevent the 5vdc regulator from getting too hot.

I’ve had this particular Bot Board for a couple of years, is there a way to tell if it is the Bot Board II, or an older version, or does it make a difference?

If it’s a Bot Board it will say MABB, if it’s a Bot Board II it will say Bot Board II on it. It is not likely to make a difference.

Good news, thanks so much, that will get me started.
