Bot Board programming

Ok here it goes im going to for the first time set up the bot board and connect it for the first time. I have no knowledge of what to do to start using it and I would like to know how to start. I’m using my ssc 32 board via bluetooth to send programs to or sequences to it. I want to know first off am I able to communicate with the Bot board the same way or no? And what software do I use to get into the Bot board, please and thank you for the help.

Hello Roboticwolf,

To start, I’d go here and read the User’s Guide for the Bot Board II:

This should answer most of your questions.

First off, make sure you have the latest version of the Sequencer program (v1.16).

To be able to store your sequences onto the SSC-32’s EEPROM you must change the SSC-32’s firmware to the GP version. The firmware file is located here.

Chapter 6 of the Sequencer manual covers this process.

Lets start off with the foundation of how the sequencer works. This tutorial is for the BRAT but the process is the same for robots with more servos.

Once you have your sequences running the way you want them you can store them on the SSC-32’s EEPROM. Chapter 7 of the Sequencer manual covers this.

I found the following forum threads on the subject that might help.

where do I look for the diagram that shows me how to connect the bot board and power it with the SSC 32. And I have the johnny 5 using bluetooth, once I get everything powered up with the SSC 32 how do i get into the bot board what software program do I use and do I have to do it with serial cable or?

Here is the image.

It’s found in the Assembly Guides page for the Johnny 5.

Here are my assumptions. You have the SSC-32 connected to the PC with bluetooth. You are running the SEQ program and are able to make the bot move. You may have even created a sequence of moves, and can play it to see the bot move to the positions in the sequence.

You have the ability to export the sequence as a basic program that can be used to program the processor on the Bot Board 2. Then the Bot Board 2 replaces the PC in sending commands to the SSC-32. You also have the ability to export the sequences into the EEProm on the SSC-32. This requires using the GP firmware on the SSC-32. Now you can run the sequences in the EEProm by telling it which stored sequence to run, and at what speed or direction to move. Hope this helps.
