About SSC-32 MCU Atmega 8 & Atmega 168?

Hi , I had wrote an e-mail to support mail box yesterday.

But not receive the reply yet.

My question is what follows:

1

 What's the different between Atmega 8 & Atmega 168 version ?

Only the MCU diverse ? Or there is something special ?

Because I've already had an Atmega 8 version , I'd like to

know clearly about the diverse for purchase another board.

2

About the SEQ-01 serial number , is it any time limit or

version limit ? Can it still work for the future new version ?

I wanna buy it , but before that , I wanna know about the

  " limit " .

By the way, if I don't have a credit card for purchase

online, how can I pay for it ? I'm living in Taiwan.

  Maybe use the ATM ?

Please tell me all about these questions Answer, thx.

  Have a nice day.
  Edison.

Hi all , can somebody help me

I’m the first time to use SSC-32 , plz ! Thank you !

Hi Edison.

Regarding the Atmega168’ it is a replacement for the Atmega8 chip.

It really depends on what you with to do with it!

The 168 is a 16k variant of the 8.
The ATmega8 and ATmega168 differ only in memory sizes,
boot loader support,
and interrupt vector sizes.
better firmware!

Lets just say’ the 168 can do more than the 8!

you can perchase the 168 on ebay if you have paypal! like i did!

I’v not known of any limitations to this and i assume free upgrades will be supported for future developments!

Good luck.

Hi , thx for telling me about the differ between them.

so my SSC-32 with the MCU Atmega 8 can be replace to Atmega 168

by the step by step :

1 clip Atmega 8

2 insert Atmega 168

3 burning firmware

Am I right ?

About SEQ , I might buy it .

But can anyone share his experiences about using or buying SEQ ?

I still want know it clearly .

thx again.

The simplist way to upgrade from the Atmega to Atmega128 is to purchase the replacement Atmega128 from Lynxmotion:
lynxmotion.com/Product.aspx?productID=624&CategoryID=52

Seg is great if you would like to create sequences of moves for your robot. There is a lot of examples of people doing this up on the forums.

good Luck

Kurt

Excuse me, I still a little confused.
I know that puchase Atmega 168 from Lynxmotion is one way to upgrade the MCU

But what’s the special between normal Atmega 168 & Lynxmotion’s Atmega 168 ? Because there is some examples & the firmware inside ?

Sorry for asking this easy question, because I wanna know what special in Lynxmotion’s Atmega 168

Thank you !

been there and asked this question already,
this might help

lynxmotion.net/viewtopic.php?t=4433

The main thing is the the one from Lynxmotion already has the boot loader installed on it, so you can then use things like SSC-32 to upgrade it.

But if you have a setup to do programming of Atmel Atmega chips, then I believe the source and hex files are available for the SSC-32 that you can download and once you set up the fuse bits properly and burn the boot loader on it, you can then install it into the SSC-32 and download the latest images on to it…

Thx innerbreed and kurte !

I’ll try to upgrade the MCU these days.

you both gave me a big help !

If I have any progress, I’ll share on the board .

There is no time limit for the Sequencer software. You will be able to get unlimited updates. I can’t guarantee free updates forever, but we have no immediate plans to charge for any updates. I would be happy to discuss alternate payment options for you via PM or email. Thanks…
