Do you sell bidirectional DC motors that com with a direction and variable speed controller?
If not, do you have any recommendation as to how (where to buy) to achieve this?
I’d like to experiment with artificial leg ligament/muscle tasks supported by cable manipulation using small but powerful bidirectional DC motors where the direction and speed may be controlled.
Well, firstly, all motors can turn in both directions. You just have to inverse the curent (change the black and red wires from place). And I believes if you more volts it will turn faster (but that I’m not sure, maybe you will have to do a kind of gear changing thing.)
Motors are usually controlled by some form of H-bridge. Many H-bridges are designed such that there is input for rotation direction, and input for the desired length pulses supplied to the motor.
The motors we sell are DC bi-directional gearhead motors. This means it will rotate at roughly the same speed in either direction. Not all motors are bi-directional. Many of the high speed motors used on RC cars and aircraft are not bi-directional. They are optimized for speed in one direction only. There are other motors that will not even rotate in both directions.
