HELP!!
I have to meet a deadline by the end of this week and my ABB won’t connect to my computer. I had programmed a program on it…and then it stopped working after i ran the program and tried to make an adjustment to the program. Now everytime i go to connect the ABB and ATom to my computer, it doesn’t want to connect!!

I can feel the urgency, but you are low on actual information here. We are going to need to know much more information. It used to work before, have you installed any programs onto the computer that use the serial OR USB ports?

Nope, no new programs involving serial ports or USB, idk what else to say really, i had a program that worked, but i didn’t like the movement of one wheel so i attemented to change it, it worked then i wanted to add more to the program, like there wasnt an accident or anything but when i wanted to add more to the program is just stopped connecting to my computer.
I have my settings like this: everything Com1 and the Debug Baudrate is 57.6
Even when i change computers like joe suggested to me before i posted the original, the computer didn’t even pick it up. Even when i go to find Device in IDE it comes up as “None.”
This is also my second ATOM on this project, and at one point with the previous ATOM the exact same thing happened… and i know i haven’t reversed polarity.
Anyways when i do a Voltmeter test from Pin 7 on the serial port to SOUT on the atom there is power.

PS: The ATOM doesn’t work with my robot either, like i have NO response.
This may be a dumb question, but did you check the battery? Or better yet check the voltage on the output of the VL regulator. Chec to see if it’s 5vdc.
I have it set to VS, and i am running a 9V. I had a 7.2V and never experianced a problem.
Would the 9V cause a fry?

No it’s not going to cause a fry. What is the voltage on the output of the VL regulator?
7.57v… Joe had the same problem just now and he tried a new battery so thats wut i am going to try to do.
For reference:
Atom modules(Regular and Pro) have a Vdd and a Vin pin. Vdd must never have more than 5.5v on it. Vin can handle upto 12v on it but you will be using th eonboard regulator and you shouldn’t use more than 50-100ma when using that regulator.
Are you telling me the output of the 5vdc VL regulator is 7.57vdc? 
No I didn’t. My robot simply didnt connect to IDE first time out, so I simply swapped for a new 9v and walla! Instant connection. I suggest you also do the same. And if you had 7.57v on vinn, god help you…

Isn’t the Vin pin on the atom pro a floating pin?
I mean that it does not go anywhere on the BB2 board ? A least that is how the diagram in the BB2 manual shows it. Correct me if I’m wrong
Well there’s your problem. 
Find out why you don’t have a good solid 5.0vdc and you will probably be able to program the little bugger. 8)
The Bot Board has its own low drop out 500mA regulator. We do not use the Atom’s on board regulator, but instead provide 5.0vdc to the module.

I assumed that the Atom and ABB could operate on a a voltage just a bit lower that five, but i was wrong…

Thats Odd… I got a new battery, and the Vin is at 4.98… but the atom and abb still doesnt connect 
Like i have abosuletly no clue as to why its not connecting!
