Great robot and also great

Great robot and also great design. In addition, I like the fact that it is solar powered , this system offers enough electricity to power the robot during hours or days. At last but no least, It can be charged itself !

Solar

At the moment, it can only charge if it doesn’t do too much driving. Needs a lot of light. Total solar output is about 480 mA. Power consumption while still, with motor controllers, IR, encoders, sonar, transmitter, compass and servos powered down uses about 20 mA.

Is it an idea to fit some

Is it an idea to fit some LDR’s on the robot? When the battery runs low, it drives automatically to the brightest spot in the room and will “hibernate” there to be fully charged a bit faster. It makes quite a difference for the output of solar panels if they’re in the shade or in the sun. Nice project!

LDRs

Thanks for the compliments. Thats a good idea about the LDRs. I have installed 2 LDRs, located just above the outer IR sensors, however I haven’t wired them to the picaxe yet.
